About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of human resources support activities. Coordinates with other departments, units, managers, employees, and vendors to ensure the efficient operations of the Human Resources day-to-day functions.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of state and federal law including but not limited to Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, EEO and leave laws
  • Methods and techniques for personnel record keeping and filing
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures in an office environment
  • Strong MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
  • Interpersonal skills, tact, patience, and courtesy; ability to build professional relationships with others
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently; strong organizational skills
  • Highly confidential and ethical

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience in construction/building materials
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements for DOT regulated personnel
  • HRIS experience

Responsibilities

  • Administer the pre-employment hiring process, order background reports, coordinate physicals, drug screens, and orientations
  • Conduct new hire orientation and process all required paperwork to Payroll for SAP data entry
  • Responsible for recruitment of hourly positions for ready mix concrete operations and aggregates operations
  • Create and maintain personnel, Driver Qualification Files (DQF), and medical files; purge termination files according to retention periods
  • Process new hires through E-Verify online portal and maintain I-9 Forms
  • Process new hires in regional new hire reporting site
  • Expedite post-accident drug screen testing results to managers in a timely fashion
  • Maintain DQF files and for all commercial drivers and DOT regulated Employees, including; Annual MVR processing and medical certifications
  • Maintain relationships with contracted industrial clinics and MRO
  • Assist with job fairs and plant-related events, as necessary
  • Assist Managers as necessary with employee meetings/disciplinary actions
  • Continuously improve administrative systems and processes, consistent with internal policies and procedures
  • Conduct annual audits of personnel and DQF files, I-9 forms, and other various processes
  • Prepare and maintain employee communications for the Regional office and plant locations
  • Answer incoming calls to the HR line and direct to the appropriate department (Benefits, Payroll, WC, Safety, etc.)
  • Order and maintain annual labor law posters for the Regional office and plant locations
  • Respond to unemployment claims, when necessary
  • Process vendor invoices to ensure they are accurate, processed, and paid in a timely fashion
  • Provide quality service to both internal and external customers
