About The Position

The Brick is actively seeking to expand its Human Resources team by hiring a Human Resources Business Partner for the province of Ontario. This role reports to the National Director of Human Resources and is primarily responsible for promoting and leading a positive and proactive employee environment within the Distribution Centers, Home Delivery department, and Commercial Division. The HR Business Partner will provide HR guidance and expertise to Ontario, ensuring alignment with business objectives. The position requires the ability to travel within the region as needed.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of HR generalist experience, with a strong focus on employee relations; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience coaching managers on employee relations, performance management, attendance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Strong knowledge of employment-related legislation, including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and privacy requirements.
  • General understanding of Health & Safety practices and their integration with employment legislation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience leading meetings and delivering presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities with proven customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced team environment and provide HR guidance at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to travel within the region as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting a distribution centre and or retail stores is strongly preferred.
  • Completed or working toward the CHRP designation.
  • Experience working in a retail or warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations activities across the Distribution Centre, Fleet, and Trans Global Services, including group and individual meetings, and promote constructive communication between employees and management.
  • Coach and support managers and employees in resolving workplace issues; provide guidance on documentation, conflict resolution, and employee concerns.
  • Deliver day-to-day performance management support, including coaching, counselling, career development, discipline, and terminations. Design and deliver learning and development activities where applicable.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for legal matters within the region, including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and other legislative challenges, consulting with legal counsel as needed.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and resolve employee relations matters promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with Health & Safety teams, providing guidance and support as required.
  • Advise management and employees of compensation and benefits practices to ensure consistent and compliant application.
  • Partner with HR colleagues to implement corporate HR strategies, programs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Stay current on provincial legislation and industry best practices; communicate changes that may impact policies, procedures, or operations.
  • Provide clear interpretation and guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and support special projects as assigned.
