About The Position

Helios Software Group is looking for a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support multiple businesses within the Helios Software Group in Montreal. Helios Software Group acquires established vertical market software companies and supports them with a long-term, stewardship-oriented model. Our approach blends disciplined investment with operational guidance, enabling leadership teams to deliver durable performance and growth over time. Helios is backed by the permanent capital of our parent company Valsoft Corporation and operates with a buy-and-hold thesis. This provides us the flexibility to invest patiently, and the commitment to partner with businesses for the decades ahead while providing strong expertise from operating 140+ software companies globally. As the portfolio grows, we continue to search for best-in-class talent that will help us scale further. We are seeking ambitious people who are entrepreneurial and willing to grow with our portfolio as it evolves. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys taking full ownership of HR execution — from recruiting to employee relations, performance management, and HR operations. A key part of this role will be supporting businesses through post-acquisition integration, including organizational changes, process alignment, and implementing strong HR foundations while maintaining a positive employee experience. You will be the primary HR point of contact for your assigned businesses, partnering closely with leadership to support growth and drive execution.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of progressive HR experience (HR Generalist / HRBP / Talent + HR blend)
  • Strong execution mindset — you take ownership, move quickly, and follow through
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and supporting leaders through fast-paced change
  • Confident handling sensitive employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion
  • Able to manage multiple priorities across different teams and businesses
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with leadership

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to M&A, restructuring, integration work, or high-growth environments is a strong asset
  • Bilingual (English/French) is a plus depending on location and portfolio needs

Responsibilities

  • Own the HR function for your assigned Helios portfolio companies, acting as the primary HR point of contact and trusted partner to leadership
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for key roles (screening, interview coordination, offer support, and candidate experience), ensuring hiring is executed with speed and quality
  • Drive employee relations matters end-to-end, including performance management, disciplinary actions, investigations, and terminations, with strong judgment and documentation
  • Own and execute performance review cycles, talent planning, and manager coaching to strengthen accountability and retention of top performers
  • Manage core HR operations including onboarding/offboarding, policy implementation, employee records, and HRIS accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards and internal HR practices across jurisdictions, escalating risks appropriately
  • Take ownership of HR integration initiatives post-acquisition, including supporting change management, aligning processes, and ensuring smooth transitions for teams

Benefits

  • High exposure to leadership and real business decisions
  • Opportunity to support multiple businesses and gain broad HR experience quickly
  • Direct involvement in acquisition and integration work
  • Strong growth potential within a long-term, entrepreneurial operating group
