About The Position

The Human Resources Business Administrator plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day HR and administrative operations of a dynamic business unit. This position partners closely with leadership to coordinate HR processes, ensure compliance, and maintain efficient operations in a fast-paced environment that includes both union and non-union employees. This role serves as a trusted liaison between employees, leadership, and corporate teams, providing hands-on HR administration, operational coordination, and guidance on employee matters. While not a formal management role, this position operates at a “manager-lite” level, offering direction, oversight of key processes, and support to leadership and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or an administrative support role
  • Experience supporting both union and non-union employee populations strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and labor-related practices is a plus
  • Exposure to HR processes (e.g., onboarding, benefits, payroll support, or employee records) is helpful but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Basic problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and seek guidance when needed
  • Proactive, dependable, and eager to develop in an HR and operations-focused role
  • Professional, approachable demeanor with a customer-service mindset
  • Comfortable providing administrative support and guidance to managers and employees in a collaborative team environment

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, compliant employee records and personnel files, including union-related documentation where applicable
  • Administer core HR processes including onboarding, orientation, offboarding, and processing personnel changes
  • Liaison with ADA manager to support with employee accommodation requests
  • Support shared services with benefits, leave administration and employee verifications.
  • Support payroll processes and partner closely with payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing, including union-related pay considerations
  • Assist with administration of collective bargaining agreement (CBA) provisions, including tracking requirements and supporting compliance
  • Manage workers’ compensation and auto claims, including coordination with internal and external partners
  • Coordinate administrative operations such as reporting, records management, and general office functions
  • Prepare and distribute operational and compliance reports as needed
  • Manage employee and service-related (contractor/contributor) contracts and documentation
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, leadership, union representatives (as applicable), and corporate teams
  • Support performance management processes by providing guidance, tracking timelines, and assisting leaders with consistent documentation
  • Provide administrative and coordination support on employee relations matters, escalating complex issues as appropriate
  • Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives and events
  • Participate in leadership and departmental meetings to support alignment and execution of business priorities
  • Lead or support special projects and process improvements
