About The Position

This position is in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Human Resources Directorate, Military Personnel Division. The Directorate provides comprehensive HR services directly supporting the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW) and those Defense Agencies and Department of War (DoW) field activities WHS administratively supports. The Military Personnel Division provides vital personnel administration support for military personnel assigned to or associated with the OSW staff.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment
  • Required to participate in the direct deposit program
  • This position is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing
  • This position is subject to the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • This position requires a secret security clearance.
  • May require up to 10% occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Required to sign a Classified Information Non-Disclosure Agreement, Standard Form 312
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to 1.) Develop and maintain statistical data reports for analysis. 2.) Participate in special projects, initiatives and identify the need for special projects and initiates milestones and goals. 3.) Determine appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up.
  • Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume. For entry at the GS-08 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in the Federal Service

Nice To Haves

  • Eighteen months of graduate level education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled.
  • Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements when the education is directly related to the position being filled.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor processing of all military personnel special actions requiring approval of the Defense Secretary, Director of Administration, and political appointees.
  • Determines appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain accountability tracking systems in compliance with the Joint Staff leadership requirements.
  • Facilitates manpower program analyses, policy guidance to OSD and Defense agencies with particular emphasis.
