About the position
The SSRC is seeking a Human Resources and Administration Assistant to provide administrative support in the areas of human resources, general operations, and administration. This is a unique opportunity for you to gain hands-on human resources and facility operations experience in a dynamic non-profit environment. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will be tasked with managing day-to-day operations of the office, planning and organizing special projects and events, and serving as the primary point of contact for facilities related-issues and inquires.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the entire recruitment process, including posting job descriptions, reviewing and tracking applications, interviewing entry-level candidates, and conducting reference checks
- Coordinate and conduct onboarding to integrate new colleagues into the organizational culture and practices
- Maintain personnel files and update employee information in HR software
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, terminations, and billing
- Prepare data for retirement plan remittances and reporting
- Support with HR-related events, such as the annual holiday party, wellness fair, and appreciation events
- Field staff requests/inquiries regarding general human resources issues
- Assist with internal office moves, office planning, and space arrangements for new hires
- Receive and distribute incoming mail and assist with execution of outgoing mail
- Maintain, purchase, and replenish general office and kitchen supplies
- Serve as assistant liaison with building management
- Place and follow up on service and maintenance calls for office machines and fixtures
- Answering phones
- Assist with the fielding of staff requests/inquiries regarding facilities-related issues
- Other duties and additional responsibilities and projects as directed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or the social sciences
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years progressive experience in a non-profit or academic setting, preferably in a HR department
- Demonstrated administrative skills
- Superior organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily activities to meet competing deadlines
- Experience with HRIS Systems, preferably Namely
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- High level of proficiency in all MS Office applications as well as database and internet applications
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

- Annual salary: $50,000 - $55,000
