About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Program Management and Administration is looking for a Payroll Technician (Human Resource Technician 2) to help us Keep Alaska Moving! This position is responsible for the timely and accurate processing, certification, review and audit of all payroll and personnel actions for the Alaska Marine Highway System (AHMS). Under general supervision of the payroll services supervisor, this position assures all payroll, personnel and leave transactions are completed in accordance with applicable Personnel Rules, bargaining unit provisions, statutes and standard operating procedures. You will provide technical information and assistance to managers, employees and the public.

Requirements

  • Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
  • One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours from an accredited college or university equals one year) in any field.
  • Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Treats others with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
  • Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.

Responsibilities
