About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) is charged with ensuring that all Kentucky veterans and their families obtain the benefits and services they have earned. KDVA administers numerous veterans programs and facilities such as: Veterans Benefits, Educational Benefits, Homeless Veterans Program, Women Veterans Program, Employment Services Program, Wounded/Disabled Veterans Program, 5 State Veterans Cemeteries, and 5 State Veterans Centers for long-term skilled nursing care. KDVA is looking for a mission driven, self- motivated and energetic Human Resource Administrator to work in our Thomson-Hood Veterans Center located in Jessamine County, who possesses the skills, knowledge, and desire to perform the following, but not limited to, duties: Provide guidance to multiple departments and supervisors regarding all aspects of HR processes and compliance. Develop and maintain multiple information systems and reporting requirements. Oversee the Commonwealth’s evaluation processes, reporting and deadline requirements for the facility. Team engagement, including education and assistance with learning and utilizing HR resources and systems. Detail oriented, builds and implements effective systems and processes. Maintains records, both electronic and paper. The ideal candidate will work independently yet be part of a larger team to meet our commitment to serve Kentucky’s Veterans. Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is located 15 minutes south of Lexington, in Wilmore KY. The HR Administrator can expect support from the KDVA HR team from headquarters in Frankfort and from HR team located at other KDVA nursing facilities. Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of professional experience in Kentucky state government merit system human resource administration or Kentucky governmental employee benefits administration.
  • Must provide documentation of successful completion of the Personnel Cabinet's Human Resources (HR) Academy to the agency's appointing authority within 12 months of employment in a position assigned this job classification.
