About The Position

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Human Resources professional to join their team as an HR Analyst at Dixon Correctional Institute in Jackson, LA. This role supports the mission by delivering accurate HR data, improving workforce processes, and ensuring compliance with state policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Three years of human resources experience; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

  • Communicating Effectively: The ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding and engagement.
  • Authorization to contact prior employers to check references under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).

Responsibilities

  • Processes the full range of personnel and payroll transactions required to support employee appointments, merit increases, promotions, transfers, separations, and other employment actions.
  • Ensures all actions comply with Civil Service rules, agency policies, and payroll deadlines.
  • Performs calculations related to routine pay changes and conducts service time computations as needed.
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of employee data and supporting documentation, identifying and correcting discrepancies before submission.
  • Provides employees with clear, general explanations of available benefit programs and assists them in understanding enrollment options.
  • Reviews benefits-related documents for accuracy and completeness and routes finalized forms to the appropriate offices for processing.
