About The Position

This position focuses on enforcing the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act by investigating and resolving discrimination complaints in employment and public accommodations. As a Human Relations Representative 1, you will perform the following duties: Case Investigation: Conduct thorough inquiries into discrimination complaints and gather accurate information Legal Knowledge: Maintain working understanding of relevant state and federal anti-discrimination laws Conference Preparation: Schedule and lead Fact Finding Conferences to review issues and explore resolution Interviewing Parties: Speak with complainants, respondents, and witnesses to secure testimony and clarify details Record Management: Document all case events in the Case Management System with accuracy and timeliness Settlement Facilitation: Communicate proposals and help parties work toward fair and voluntary agreements.

Requirements

  • One year as a Human Relations Representative Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of professional administrative investigative, criminal investigative, regulatory investigative, civil rights, or human rights experience involving gathering evidence, interviewing, and reporting investigative findings; and a bachelor’s degree that includes 12 credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience that includes 12 college credits in human resources, labor management relations, civil rights, social work, social justice, public policy, public administration, or a related field.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission of criminal history reports (conditional offer of employment).
  • Pass a background investigation.
