About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Patient Care or designee, the HUC performs office, secretarial, and related duties for an assigned unit. The role coordinates services to support completion of the unit’s daily activities and organizes patient-focused support, including coordination of ancillary patient and unit services and requests for equipment and supplies. The HUC also assists the Manager, Patient Care or designee with assigned duties and responsibilities. This is a 24-hour position on a day/evening schedule, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with weekend and holiday rotation, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Pay is determined by experience, with a stated range of $17.86 to $25.71 per hour.

Requirements

Education equivalent to completion of four years of high school, plus additional specialized courses or training.
Over three months and up to and including one year of related work experience.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or qualify for an exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Nice To Haves

Computer skills, including knowledge of the Meditech computer system.
Related secretarial experience.

Responsibilities

Perform office, secretarial, and related duties for the assigned unit.
Coordinate services to ensure completion of the assigned nursing unit’s daily activities.
Plan, organize, and direct patient-focused support activities for the unit.
Coordinate ancillary patient and unit services and requests for equipment and supplies.
Assist the Manager, Patient Care or designee with duties and responsibilities as directed.
