About The Position

This course will introduce Mendelian and population genetics, with an emphasis on the inheritance of genetic diseases. The human genome project and applications of DNA technology such as gene editing, and gene therapy will also be considered.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree
  • PhD in Biology or a relevant discipline with an emphasis in genetics.
  • CV (Maximum of 10 pages, with 12-point font and 2.54 cm margins).
  • Candidate Application Form (CAF) submitted.
  • Outline relevant qualifications on the CAF for the course applied for.
  • Articulate how work and academic experience enhances ability to teach the course on the CAF.
  • Verification of highest degree (highly recommended to include with application).
  • Name and contact information for referees (for external applicants).
  • Applications must be received by 23:59 local time of the date of the posting.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous university teaching experience.
  • Refereed publications in the area of genetics.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course HS206 BR: Genetics and the Human Genome during the Winter 2027 term.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures on Mendelian and population genetics, genetic diseases, the human genome project, and DNA technology applications.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, exams, or other methods as appropriate for the course.
  • Provide feedback to students on their academic performance.
  • Adhere to the guidelines and requirements of the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement.
