About The Position

This position functions as a Senior Research Nurse in the Division of Human Cancer Genetics. The role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating the care of patients on genetic and/or oncology clinical research protocols. The Senior Research Nurse will also serve as a mentor to new and existing research staff, coordinate the collection of research data, provide education, and evaluate patients for clinical complications related to protocols. This role aims to enhance accrual to research protocols, assist in the collection and distribution of blood and tissue samples, evaluate patient eligibility, oversee the registration of out/in-patients, develop and revise orders, monitor patient care and ensure proper follow-up, evaluate patient response and complications, and assist in developing plans to meet the requirements of new studies/protocols. The role also includes preparing for external quality assurance and control reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in nursing, allied medical professions or other health care field required or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Current State of Ohio licensure or interim permit required in appropriate field
  • Clinical research certification from SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates) or ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals) required
  • Considerable experience in a clinical research capacity conducting clinical trials required
  • Considerable experience in providing direct patient care
  • Computer literacy required with knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications desired
  • Requires successful completion of a background check
