About The Position

Provides genetic counseling to patients and counseling and coordination services for other screening programs. Identifies families at risk for genetic disorders, children with birth defects, or a variety of other inherited conditions. Analyzes inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence. Interprets complex genetic and laboratory data/test results. Communicates findings with physicians and patients. Assists patients with the navigation of financial aspects associated with genetic testing. Assists with diagnosing genetic problems and develops short and long term genetic counseling plans. Provides ongoing genetics education for medical professionals, including speaking at local and regional department meetings. Initiates, develops, and implements genetic screening and health management protocols. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Genetics Counseling, Medical Genetics or Human Genetics
