About The Position

Subterranean Boring Inc. is seeking an organized, detail-oriented HR & Payroll Coordinator to join their team and help keep their people operations running smoothly. In this role, you will be responsible for executing all payroll functions, supporting core HR processes, and assisting with light accounting activities. You will ensure accurate and timely payroll across multiple states, maintain employee records and compliance, and support onboarding, benefits administration, and financial tracking. This role is for someone who takes pride in accuracy, values confidentiality, and enjoys being the reliable backbone of a hardworking team.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of payroll, HR, or related experience
  • Experience with multi-state payroll preferred
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Payroll
  • Basic HR compliance knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and business systems
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly payroll for all hourly and salaried employees across multiple states, including managing tax withholdings, validating timesheets, coordinating payroll changes, ensuring accurate deductions, and reconciling payroll reports.
  • Coordinate new hire documentation, manage I-9 verification and compliance, maintain employment records, and handle offboarding, including final payroll and benefits termination.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, manage enrollments and changes, act as liaison with benefit providers, and support open enrollment and employee inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, assist with HR policy and employee handbook updates, and support audits and reporting as needed.
  • Assist with accounts payable, invoice processing, expense tracking, payroll-to-accounting coordination for job costing, and month-end credit card statement auditing.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable point of contact for payroll and benefits questions across the organization.
