About The Position

The HR Generalist will act as the lead support for the HR Operations functional areas with a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience in benefits, compliance, and employee relations. Critical to this position is a customer service focused, motivated, self-driven team player with the ability to multi-task and change priorities. This is crucial as the Human Resources office is a fast-paced environment with many initiatives taking place simultaneously. Human Resources is a service organization and as such, representatives must have patience and the flexibility to address personnel issues as they arise and treat all employees in a warm, friendly, accommodating manner.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in HR required, with 3 years of employee relations and documentation and Leave Management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and organizational abilities
  • Proficient in HRIS platforms (ADP Workforce Now) and data analysis/reporting tools (ADP Workforce Now)
  • Strong knowledge of State and Federal law – NY State law a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Preferred background in Warehouse, Industrial, or high volume industry
  • SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advisement to employees, supervisors and managers on a variety of topics related to HR
  • Act as mediator to assist with employee issues, conflicts and investigations.
  • Assist with documentation for employee warnings and disciplinary actions including assisting with employee terminations
  • Conducts Exit Interviews when warranted
  • Administer end-to-end leave programs (FMLA, ADA, short/long term disability, and other company leave policies.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for staff, providing guidance on eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws, maintaining accurate records and audit-ready documentation.
  • Partner with department leaders and third-party administrators to coordinate leave payments and benefits continuation.
  • Provide benefit education to employees as needed and through educational opportunities with vendors
  • Administer/Process Annual Benefit Renewal with broker and benefit vendors
  • Assist with Open Enrollment processes (ADP/Fidelity changes) and provide employee support for annual elections through communication and meetings.
  • Assist with Annual independent Audits to produce 5500 filings
  • Administer Wellness Committee activities such as allocation of Wellness Funds from Excellus, Biometric Screening Event, Flu Shot Clinic, etc.
  • Assist the HR Onboarding Partner with New Hire Orientations, Interviews and welcoming new employees, providing company information and facilitating training on policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements personnel policies and procedures with approval from the Northeast Corporate office.
  • Assists in maintaining employee handbook, updating as needed for compliance
  • Assist with Annual Harassment Prevention Training as well as other annualized training required.
  • Labor Law Compliance Postings
  • Staying updated on employment laws, ensuring adherence to regulations, and maintaining employee records.
  • Communicating company policies, updates, and important information to employees.
  • Lead Employee Engagement activities in the facility.
