About The Position

Honeycomb is seeking an HR Generalist to manage the day-to-day operations and systems of the People function for its US-based employees. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, involving payroll support, benefits administration, LOA management, multi-state compliance, HRIS, and reporting. The HR Generalist will partner with the VP HR and Senior HRBP lead, ensuring the systems and operations supporting the employee experience are consistent, compliant, and scalable for a rapidly growing workforce across 18 states. The company has recently migrated to Rippling and is looking for someone to optimize it.

Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years of progressive, hands-on People Operations experience, with significant time spent in a startup or high-growth company.
  • Direct experience owning payroll, benefits, and multi-state compliance, including vendor management (payroll providers, benefits brokers).
  • Hands-on knowledge of Rippling, Greenhouse, and Culture Amp is required, including administering, configuring, and optimizing these platforms.
  • Comfort with Google Workspace, Slack, Monday, and Claude.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. HR operations best practices, benefits administration (COBRA, HSAs, 401(k)), and multi-state compliance and operational risk management.
  • Experience using AI tools to automate repetitive work, draft communications, summarize data, and accelerate processes.
  • Clear, accurate written communication across email, Slack, tickets, and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP, CPP, or similar certification is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate employee data and records in the HR tech stack, processing changes, auditing fields, and ensuring the system is the source of truth.
  • Handle the transactional ticket queue for employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits enrollment, address and tax changes, verification requests, and system access with accuracy and speed.
  • Serve as the in-house HRIS expert for Rippling, configuring, optimizing, and continuously improving the platform.
  • Drive data integrity across all HR systems through audits, clean-up, and disciplined data hygiene.
  • Build and maintain reporting and dashboards for the People team and leadership to provide reliable workforce visibility.
  • Provide payroll support, partnering with Finance stakeholders to process end-to-end payroll.
  • Administer benefits end-to-end, including health plans, HSAs, 401(k) management, and COBRA, along with vendor and broker coordination. Manage open enrollment and communicate benefits and system updates.
  • Partner with HRBP and Payroll stakeholders to ensure accurate and caring end-to-end Leave of Absence management.
  • Own the multi-state compliance calendar (federal, state, and local), ensuring compliance in all operating states, maintaining audit-ready documentation, state-specific addenda, and required postings, while proactively identifying risks.
  • Execute pre-boarding, onboarding, and offboarding processes, including system setup, paperwork, payroll and benefits enrollment, IT coordination, final pay, and data archival.
