About The Position

Loopstra Nixon LLP is seeking an experienced and service-oriented HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will play a key role in delivering day-to-day HR services and supporting the consistent execution of HR programs and processes across the firm.   Working in close collaboration with the HR team, this role will focus on employee relations, employee lifecycle management, and HR program delivery, while ensuring alignment with firm policies, employment legislation, and best practices within a professional services environment. The HR Generalist will act as a trusted resource to managers and staff, providing practical guidance and responsive support.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 4 - 6 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a professional services or legal environment.
  • Solid understanding of Ontario employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations, and performance management processes.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-service mindset.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for staff and managers on HR-related matters, providing timely, practical, and solutions-oriented guidance.
  • Support the resolution of employee relations matters, including performance concerns, workplace issues, and policy interpretation, in consultation with the Director of Human Resources.
  • Support full-cycle recruitment for staff roles in partnership with hiring managers, including drafting job postings, coordinating interviews, and facilitating offer preparation.
  • Lead and continuously improve the onboarding experience, including orientation, scheduling, and integration of new hires.
  • Administer employee changes, including promotions, transfers, and departures, ensuring accurate documentation and a seamless process.
  • Coordinate probationary reviews, employee check-ins, and support performance management processes, including tracking timelines and documentation.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and alignment with firm practices.
  • Support key HR programs, including performance management cycles, employee engagement initiatives, and recognition programs.
  • Maintain awareness of employment legislation (e.g., ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA) and support compliance across HR practices.
  • Partner with the Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support employee changes impacting compensation, benefits enrolment, and leave administration.
  • Assist with compensation-related processes, including data tracking and preparation of materials as required.
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits, policies, and HR programs.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date employee records within the HRIS, in coordination with the HR Coordinator.
  • Support HR reporting and data tracking to inform decision-making and program effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR team on initiatives aimed at improving processes, enhancing employee experience, and supporting firm growth.
  • Contribute to special projects and firm-wide initiatives as required.
