About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist 1 (HRG1) is responsible for performing human resource related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR department staff in managing employee relations, recruitment, documentation, and administrative functions to ensure smooth organizational operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a fast paced HR environment (preferably union environment)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and time-management abilities
  • Attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Problem-solving and teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field, a plus
  • Relevant work experience in HR, administration, or office support may substitute for higher educational qualifications
  • Knowledge of HR procedures and labor laws a plus
  • Knowledge of HCM systems a plus
  • Bilingual as plus

Responsibilities

  • Partners with management and employees to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulation.
  • Handles all aspects of corporate staffing efforts for all levels, including recruiting and interviewing.
  • Recruits and interviews job applicants to fill various open positions through multiple methods of sourcing; organizes and participates in Job Fairs, as needed.
  • Assists with development, implementation and facilitation of varied HR initiatives, including new employee orientation; employee recognition, benefits seminars, onboarding, meetings, training sessions, etc.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Recommends new approaches, ideas on policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services provided.
  • Provides guidance to management based on Policies and Procedures and CBAs
  • Maintains electronic and hard-copy employee records; performs data entry of pertinent employee information, maintains complete and secure hardcopy records, ensures proper documentation is maintained.
  • Keeps abreast of changes and updates in employment laws, new regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as required and assigned.
