About The Position

The HR Generalist is responsible for a wide variety of tasks including full cycle recruiting, on-boarding, benefit support, environmental health and safety initiatives, state, and federal compliance among a variety of other tasks necessary to maintaining and improving the employee acquisition, performance, development and supporting processes within the company.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Business, or related discipline is required.
  • 3+ years’ experience in human resources desired, at the generalist or specialist level.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • HRIS experience preferred
  • PHR or SPHR certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist HR Vice President and customer groups for organization assessment and upgrading talent through strategic staffing and developing pipeline talent.
  • Assist HR Vice President to execute the workforce plan for supported sites and remote employees.
  • Manage the Talent Acquisition process for the entire US.
  • Partner with site leadership as required to source, interview, and select non-exempt and exempt regular or temporary positions in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Employ behavioral based interviewing technics to ensure that new hires obtain a high degree of successful performance in their roles
  • Partner with staffing agencies and site leaders to ensure that Short-term staffing needs are met
  • Responsible for performing site HR portions of New Associate Orientation and communicating new associate information to other departments.
  • Administer policies such as FMLA/Short Term Disability, Attendance, etc. fairly and consistently according to guidelines, State, and Federal law.
  • Ensure record retention guidelines are met in accordance with state and federal law as well as industry guidelines.
  • Drive the management of the HR portion of the ISO audit to ensure compliance and certification
  • Supports Employee Health, Wellness and Safety programs, investigations, and initiatives.
  • Initiate process improvements by analyzing current processes and recommending improvements to obtain greater efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in facilitation of MTE’s annual benefit open enrollment
  • Administer STD/LTD programs in accordance with MTE/Steel Partners policy
  • Ensure new hires, associate changes in status and benefits changes are processed
  • Prepare monthly turnover, recruitment, headcount, and safety metrics
  • Coordinate all tuition reimbursement and employee referral bonus payouts
