About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented HR Coordinator with a focus on Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) to support both core HR administration and the execution of safety programs across our autobody repair shops. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, supporting incident management processes, and coordinating safety training and documentation. The HR Coordinator will work closely with frontline teams—including technicians, estimators, painters, and managers—to reinforce safe work practices in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, operational HR environment, balancing administrative excellence with a strong presence in the field.

Requirements

  • Certificate or coursework in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, or related field
  • 1–2 years of experience in an HR Coordinator or safety-related role
  • Basic knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and workplace safety practices
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills (Microsoft Office proficiency required)
  • Clear, professional, and approachable communication style with the ability to support frontline teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in autobody, trades, manufacturing, or industrial environments is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular on-site safety walkthroughs and inspections using standardized checklists
  • Support compliance with WorkSafeBC and applicable provincial safety regulations
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, including policies, procedures, and SDS libraries
  • Assist with preparation for audits, inspections, and certifications
  • Coordinate documentation of workplace incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
  • Support incident investigations by gathering information and tracking follow-ups
  • Administer WCB claims, including reporting, communication, and modified work coordination
  • Maintain accurate records and track incident trends for reporting purposes
  • Coordinate safety onboarding and orientation for new hires
  • Schedule, track, and maintain records of required safety training (e.g., WHMIS, PPE, respirator fit testing)
  • Support delivery of toolbox talks and ongoing safety communication in shops
  • Maintain employee records related to safety, training, and compliance
  • Support HR reporting and documentation for both HR and Operations teams
  • Assist with policy updates and communication related to health, safety, and workplace practices
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the HR function as needed
