About The Position

Under limited supervision, this role provides administrative support to various Human Resources functions including personnel records, employee/labor relations, compensation, benefits, training, and equal opportunity/affirmative action. The position involves processing confidential forms and records, gathering information, and preparing reports. Extensive knowledge of insurance, unemployment, workers' compensation, and other HR areas is required. Key responsibilities include setting up new personnel files, recording status changes, maintaining employee information, compiling data for reports, verifying payroll entries, and monitoring employee data such as personal information, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews, and termination details. The role also involves updating employee files, participating in and summarizing surveys, computing wages, responding to HR policy questions, processing employment applications, conducting new hire orientations, tracking FMLA and LOA requests, and functioning as a lead to train lower-level personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Computer experience (Microsoft Office) required
  • Confidentiality a must

  • SAP experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Setting up files on new personnel
  • Obtaining employee numbers for new employees
  • Recording changes on all employee status changes as necessary (e.g., change of address, departmental transfers, rate increases, terminations)
  • Processing various informational and other confidential forms and records
  • Maintaining and distributing current employee information, policy and procedure manuals, and other communications
  • Compiling data from personnel records and preparing reports
  • Verifying payroll entries and changes with computer printout
  • Checking for accuracy and reporting any discrepancies to higher level personnel
  • Monitoring and tracking employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance including sick and vacation time used, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason
  • Updating employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses
  • Participating and summarizing internal and external surveys to gather information for policy development and planning
  • Computing wages and recording data for use in payroll processing
  • Responding to fairly complex questions on human resources policies and procedures
  • Working with supervisor to resolve any potential issues and grievances
  • Processing employment applications and assisting in other employment activities
  • Conducting new hire orientations
  • Monitoring and tracking time usage and documentation related to Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and leave of absence (LOA) requests
  • Functioning as a lead to and trains lower-level personnel
