About The Position

The Compliance Specialist supports Indeed Flex’s compliance with federal, state, and local requirements related to employee relations, background screening, drug screening, unemployment, employment verifications, and work authorization processes. This role serves as a subject matter expert in one or more compliance areas while supporting employee relations matters and investigations involving a contingent workforce across multiple states. The Compliance Specialist partners with internal teams to maintain compliant processes, support process improvements, identify workflow efficiencies, and ensure a consistent employee experience throughout the employment lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Compliance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with multi-state HR compliance regulations and employment laws.
  • Working knowledge of Form I-9, E-Verify, and employment-based background screening processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience handling employee relations matters, investigations, or workplace complaints preferred.
  • Experience supporting temporary, contingent, hourly, or multi-state workforce populations preferred.
  • Prior staffing industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more of the following areas: Employee Relations & Investigations, Unemployment, Employment Verifications, Background Screening, Drug Screening, Form I-9/E-Verify.
  • Monitor issues and partner with internal teams and vendors to resolve compliance-related concerns. Escalate issues to leadership as appropriate.
  • Maintain and follow standardized compliance processes, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Audit systems and records to ensure accurate employee and compliance data.
  • Support background screening adjudication processes and ensure required adverse action steps are completed.
  • Support Form I-9 and E-Verify processes, including audits, document review, reverification, and resolution of non-confirmation cases.
  • Respond to employee and candidate inquiries related to compliance processes through approved support channels.
  • Maintain accurate records related to screenings, investigations, accommodations, and employee relations matters.
  • Assist with employee relations cases and investigations involving workplace concerns, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, accommodations, and other compliance matters.
  • Document investigations and case activity thoroughly and escalate higher-risk matters as needed.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to employee concerns and escalations from Flexer Support and Flexer Experience teams.
  • Provide guidance to employees on company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Complete employment verification requests and other compliance-related administrative tasks.
  • Assist with reporting, audits, and compliance reviews related to federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Support process improvement efforts, including workflow efficiencies, automation initiatives, and system enhancements.
  • Provide cross-functional and ad hoc support to maintain business continuity and compliance standards.
  • Complete required training and participate in ongoing learning opportunities related to HR compliance and employment regulations.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
