About The Position

The Houseman helps maintain guestrooms, working areas, public areas, and hotel premises in a clean and orderly condition. The role responds promptly to guest and departmental requests, reports maintenance issues and missing or damaged items, and supports room attendants and house cleaners with routine tasks and heavy lifting. The Houseman is expected to work independently as well as collaboratively, maintain a professional appearance, follow hotel dress-code and operating procedures, and take on tasks assigned by supervisors. This is a part-time position.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience; hospitality-industry experience is preferred.
Speak clearly and professionally with others.
Support the team in reaching common goals and adhere to quality expectations and standards.
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Be a strong leader, self-motivator, and team builder.
Work independently with minimal direction and as a team player.
Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance.
Be willing to work weekends and holidays if required.

Responsibilities

Respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments.
Identify and report preventative maintenance and other issues in public areas or guest rooms.
Maintain guestrooms, working areas, public areas, and hotel premises in a clean and orderly manner.
Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, rooms, hallways, restrooms, walls, ceilings, and floors using the prescribed methods and equipment.
Move furniture and turn mattresses; sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors; and dust and polish metalwork.
Collect soiled linen, receive linen supplies, sort linen, and stock room-attendant closets.
Maintain housekeeping carts and remove trash collected by room attendants.
Walk assigned floors at the beginning and end of shifts to collect newspaper bags, newspapers, trash, and soiled linen.
Pick up clean linen and replenish linen, guest amenities, and supplies in floor pantries.
Deliver towels, cribs, cots, and other requested items to guest rooms.
Perform room-attendant duties when necessary.
Assist house cleaners with heavy lifting during room deep-cleaning or spring-cleaning.
Clean public areas according to department standard operating procedures.
Remove soiled linen and trash from the poolside and other service areas and take them to designated locations.
Assist room attendants and house cleaners with placing bed boards, rollaway beds, and extra beds.
Report missing or found articles, damage, and merchandise problems to housekeeping supervisors.
Respond to guests and colleagues in a friendly and helpful manner.
Complete tasks assigned by supervisors as needed.
Report to work in the required uniform and follow the hotel's dress-code policy.
