About The Position

The Ridley Area YMCA is seeking motivated, dependable, and hardworking individuals to join its Housekeeping Team for weekday closing shifts. The ideal candidate has previous housekeeping or maintenance experience, takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, and is self-motivated and able to work independently. The position cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, including mopping, dusting, and trash removal. Duties may also include window washing, meeting setup, pool cleaning, snow removal, groundskeeping, and other related responsibilities. The Housekeeper helps create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement, in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years old.
Obtain American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
Complete required trainings.
Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
Ability to stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
Ability to work in conditions that create dirt and dust.
Ability to perform facility or equipment maintenance involving reaching overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, carrying, working in narrow or confined spaces, twisting, and lying on the stomach or back.
Ability to lift and carry 15–50 pounds.
Ability to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.

Responsibilities

Complete duties on the daily schedule and maintain the cleanliness of assigned areas and equipment, including mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, lawn care, snow removal, and general cleaning.
Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
Record and report needed repairs, and make repairs as directed.
Keep the YMCA building and property secure during the shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
Set up furniture and equipment according to the daily schedule for events.
Perform duties with a Housekeeper/Custodian II or higher.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
Attend required staff meetings and in-service trainings.
Perform other duties deemed necessary to support the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
