About The Position

The YMCA Fairfax County Reston is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Housekeeping Supervisor to help ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of its facilities. The role combines hands-on housekeeping work with supervising and managing a team of housekeeping staff. The supervisor works directly with the Facility Manager and supports staff through guidance, training, and oversight.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous housekeeping or related-field experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment, including proper handling and storage.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to housekeeping activities.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crawl frequently.
• Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage housekeeping staff, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
• Create and implement housekeeping work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient use of resources.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the YMCA, including the lobby, hallways, stairwells, locker rooms, gymnasiums, and other designated areas.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard and on time.
• Assist with recruiting, selecting, and onboarding housekeeping staff.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring items are available to the team.
