About The Position
The Assistant Teacher supports the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate classroom activities. The role helps provide a safe, nurturing environment that promotes young children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
Requirements
- Must be at least 20 years old.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Documentation of a physical exam and TB test.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet licensing requirements.
- Strong communication skills and a positive, creative attitude.
- 15 credit hours (per jurisdictional guideline), a 90-hour certificate, or a CDA.
- Must obtain a CDA within 18 months of employment.
- One year of teaching experience in a licensed center.
Responsibilities
- Assist with implementing lesson plans that meet the needs and interests of children.
- Maintain a safe environment and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and parent-child events.
- Keep classrooms neat, clean, and organized, and support children with cleanup routines.
- Build positive relationships with families, coworkers, and program participants.
- Participate in field trips, special events, and enrichment activities.
- Engage children during story time, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and group activities.
