About The Position

Hostelling International USA is hiring a full-time, benefit-eligible Housekeeping Associate at HI Sacramento Hostel, a historic downtown Sacramento hostel. The role helps maintain a clean and welcoming environment for travelers by cleaning guest rooms, dorms, bathrooms, and shared spaces, completing laundry and kitchen tasks, maintaining supplies, and assisting with light maintenance and groundskeeping. The position pays $17.00 per hour and has a scheduled shift of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; weekend availability is required. The job posting also says the associate must be willing to work evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays as required. New-hire waiting periods apply to benefits.

Requirements

At least six months of hostel or hotel housekeeping experience.
Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to multitask.
Willingness to work evenings, overnight, weekends, and holidays as required.
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Physical ability to sit and use hands and arms regularly; stand, walk, talk, and hear frequently; and occasionally climb or balance.
Vision abilities including close, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Clean and prepare guest rooms, dorms, and bathrooms.
Mop, vacuum, and sweep hostel grounds daily.
Perform laundry duties, including washing, sorting, folding, and stocking.
Change and wash bed linens, bedspreads, blankets, and towels.
Wash and put away kitchen dishes and utensils.
Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, and tubs or showers; restock soap and toilet paper as needed.
Wash windows and window coverings.
Dust countertops, dresser tops, furniture, paintings, and door jambs.
Empty trash and recycling daily.
Report broken items to management.
Ensure unnecessary lights are turned off.
Maintain an inventory of housekeeping supplies.
Assist with light maintenance, kitchen maintenance, and groundskeeping as required.
