Housekeeping Associate, Joppa - Part Time
About The Position
The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all common areas in Macy’s distribution center and performing other duties as assigned. The role includes cleaning cafeteria, office, restroom, and outdoor areas, as well as sweeping and buffing floors. It may include snow removal and cleaning and properly disposing of blood or other potentially infectious material spills according to applicable guidelines. The position requires dependable attendance and punctuality, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and effective communication with customers, coworkers, and supervisors. The associate must be able to understand English-language employment policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals, and must be proficient with computers and handheld technology. A flexible schedule may include day, evening, weekend, and holiday work. This is a part-time role. The posting states that part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12–24 hours per week, depending on business needs and colleague availability. Supply chain colleagues covered by the stated policy may be subject to random drug testing monthly or semi-monthly.
Requirements
- No education or experience is required.
- Understand and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Read, understand, and interpret employment policies and English-language instructional documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Be a resourceful self-starter and work well independently and as part of a team.
- Be proficient in the use of computers and handheld technology.
- Be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Meet the physical demands of prolonged standing and walking; reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and climbing ladders; and frequently lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Clean the cafeteria, including emptying garbage containers.
- Perform outdoor cleaning, which may include snow removal.
- Clean office areas, including vacuuming, dusting, and removing garbage.
- Sweep and buff floors.
- Clean restrooms and follow appropriate bloodborne pathogen guidelines.
- Clean and appropriately dispose of blood or other potentially infectious material spills.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and supports authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
