About The Position

The Housekeeper, under direct supervision, performs housekeeping and/or laundry duties to maintain the community in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition. The role demonstrates SRIM’s Golden Rule by treating residents, families, visitors, and associates with dignity, kindness, compassion, and respect. The position also supports residents and the community through dining-room assistance, participation in resident activities, and assistance to nursing staff when requested. Housekeepers are considered essential personnel during emergencies or inclement weather and may be required to report to or remain at the community until released by a supervisor.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
Ability to follow detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions using common-sense understanding.
Ability to address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

Responsibilities

Follow the established cleaning schedule.
Dust, vacuum, sweep, and mop common areas daily.
Deep-clean resident rooms according to the established schedule.
Clean administrative offices as scheduled.
Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
Clean carpets and mop floors upon request.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for residents.
Respond promptly and courteously to requests for assistance from residents, families, and visitors.
Communicate effectively in a language each resident can understand.
Maintain a safe and secure work environment, practice safe working habits and good body mechanics, and promptly report safety hazards to a supervisor.
Follow established policies and procedures in emergency situations; report to or remain at the community during emergencies or inclement weather until released by a supervisor.
Work cooperatively with associates and management to complete assignments.
Attend or participate in trainings, in-service sessions, and mandatory meetings.
Comply with attendance and call-off policies and follow the established dress code.
Refer inquiries about resident issues from families and visitors to the immediate nursing supervisor.
Comply with HIPAA regulations.
Provide hands-on assistance to nursing staff when requested or needed while working in the community.
Participate in resident leisure activities as described in the activity calendar.
Serve and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Willingly take on special projects or assignments and perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
