About The Position

The Housekeeper performs day-to-day housekeeping functions and specific cleaning tasks according to daily assignments. The role maintains resident rooms, living areas, recreational areas, bathrooms, hallways, furnishings, fixtures, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive condition. The Housekeeper follows infection-control and safety practices, coordinates routine cleaning in resident living areas with nursing services, and keeps the supervisor informed of supply needs. The position is part-time, on the day shift, and includes every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Follow work and cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
• Coordinate routine cleaning in resident living areas with nursing services.
• Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
• Follow established infection-control, universal, and safety practices while performing housekeeping tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Keep work areas free of hazardous objects.
• Inform the supervisor of supply needs.
• Clean work and supply carts, equipment, and related items as necessary or directed.
• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions and specific tasks according to daily assignments.
• Clean and polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, and room heating and cooling units in resident rooms and recreational areas as instructed.
• Clean, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures.
• Clean floors by sweeping, dusting, damp or wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting as needed.
• Clean carpets by vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting as needed.
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot-cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing as needed.
• Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, and other residue from surfaces using appropriate cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
• Clean hallways and vacant rooms as assigned.
• Place waste and trash in proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners.
• Dispose of infectious waste in appropriate containers.
• Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor residents' personal and property rights.
• Turn in found articles to the charge nurse.
