About The Position

Perform cleaning duties to maintain hotel rooms in a clean and orderly manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and think critically.
• Ability to convey information effectively.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Walking primarily on a hard, level surface throughout the workday.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required.
• Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent contact with cleaning chemicals, supplies, and odors.
• Low to moderate noise level in the building.
• Frequent interruptions from guests and phone calls.
• Daily deadlines associated with this position, which may cause stress.
• Must deal with a wide variety of people and may encounter conflict.
• Zero-tolerance policy regarding changing bed linens, duvets, and pillowcases. Failure to change bed sheets, pillowcases, or duvets on guest rooms that have checked out is grounds for immediate termination.

Responsibilities

• Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.
• Disinfect equipment and supplies, using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
• Empty wastebaskets, empty and clean ashtrays, and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
• Observe precautions required to protect hotel and guest property and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
