About The Position

The Housekeeper cleans common areas and residents’ homes at Masonicare at Chester Village. The role includes dusting, washing walls and windows, dry and wet mopping, vacuuming, and stripping and remaking unoccupied beds. The Housekeeper uses cleaning supplies and equipment, maintains clean and orderly equipment and work areas, and follows safety and infection-control procedures. This per diem position requires respectful, effective interaction with adult and older adult residents and teamwork with staff. No prior experience is necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to read and understand English.

Responsibilities

Receive instructions about assigned areas and tasks, and assemble cleaning supplies and equipment for transport.
Clean common areas and residents’ homes.
Dust furnishings, woodwork, sills, doors, and other surfaces; wash walls and windows; dry mop and wet mop floors; vacuum floors and carpets; and strip and remake unoccupied beds.
Use stepladders and operate mechanical vacuums as required.
Detect and report defective equipment, faulty operations, or questionable matters to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Monitor the housekeeping cart in resident-access areas because cleaning fluids may be dangerous.
Follow prescribed and standard safety and infection-control procedures.
Interact respectfully and reassuringly with adult and older adult residents when addressing complaints or concerns, communicating tactfully while recognizing residents’ age, cultural diversity, needs, abilities, and physical condition.
Work positively and effectively with staff as part of a team.
Attend departmental meetings and appropriate in-service education programs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
