About The Position

The Housekeeper performs skilled and routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the unit. The role involves cleaning assigned areas in accordance with management direction and the company’s “green” initiatives, changing linens, making beds, cleaning furniture and room surfaces, removing trash, and replenishing missing guest-room items. It also includes cleaning and sanitizing bathroom fixtures and floors, dusting lighting and mirrors, and performing laundry duties as assigned. The Housekeeper reports quality-control issues, needed repairs, and safety concerns to management. The work requires frequent movement around the unit, standing for the entire workday, regularly climbing steps, and handling physical tasks such as bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and pushing. The role involves working in wet and slippery conditions and frequently in hot, damp environments, as well as withstanding indoor and outdoor temperature extremes. Physical presence at the job site is essential.

Requirements

Partial high school education; a high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
Strong sanitation habits and the ability to learn and follow important safety precautions.
Strong customer service abilities and a proactive approach to assisting customers and coworkers.
Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
Ability to read and write work-related documents in English.
Ability to understand speech and speak clearly in English with customers and coworkers.
Ability to move frequently around the unit, stand for the entire workday, and regularly climb steps.
Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 35 lbs. regularly, 45 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Ability to bend, reach or extend arms and hands above shoulder height, and work in a constantly changing environment.
Ability to withstand indoor and outdoor temperature extremes and work in wet, slippery, hot, and damp conditions.
Ability to frequently immerse hands in water.
Physical presence at the job site to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

Clean assigned areas as directed by management and in compliance with the company’s “green” initiatives.
Change linens and make beds.
Dust and clean furniture, picture frames, mirrors, windows, baseboards, carpet edges, door panels, door ledges, and thresholds.
Remove trash from receptacles and tables, floors, and grounds; replace trash bags as needed.
Clean and vacuum under beds, desks, gaming tables, and behind nightstands.
Check rooms for missing items and replace items such as soaps, shampoos, conditioners, hangers, clocks, ice bucket liners, hair dryers, brochures, and stationery.
Clean bathtubs, tub ledges, sinks, vanity shelves, toilets, bathroom scales, tissue box covers, and soap dishes; keep them free of spots, mold, mildew, and dust.
Sweep and mop bathroom floors.
Dust lights, sconces, makeup mirrors, and lampshades.
Perform laundry duties as assigned.
Notify the Supervisor of housekeeping quality-control issues or needed repairs.
Maintain awareness of safety issues and report them immediately to a manager.
