About The Position

Visiting Angels of Reading is hiring Housekeeper and Companion Caregivers to support senior adults and other home-care clients in the local area, including Sinking Spring, Reading, Wyomissing, West Lawn, Whitfield, Colony Park, and Spring Ridge. Caregivers help clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity through personal care, companionship, and household assistance. Client visits vary, and caregivers must be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role offers full-time and part-time shifts, including 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts, PRN, and short shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience caring for seniors and/or disabled adults, professionally or personally.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Compassion and interest in providing meaningful companionship to vulnerable people.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, visiting a doctor, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes or unusual circumstances.
