About The Position

Visiting Angels Springfield is seeking compassionate Housekeeper and Companion Caregivers to support seniors and others in need throughout Central Illinois. The role provides help with daily living, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, mobility assistance, transportation, personal care, and companionship. Caregivers may support clients at home and accompany them to appointments, walks, or shopping. The position offers varied shifts from 1 to 12 hours, with flexible scheduling and full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities. Caregivers can make their own schedules and receive travel-time pay with mileage reimbursement. The employer provides client-caregiver introductions and says caregivers are not sent into assignments alone. Advanced training opportunities include Dementia Care and Alzheimer’s Care.

Requirements

Passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate manner.
Good time-management skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong ethics.
Physical endurance.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Own a vehicle with current insurance.
Social Security Card.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside, including doctor’s appointments and walks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
Perform light housekeeping tasks clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
Provide daily-living support such as transportation and meal preparation.
