About The Position

Visiting Angels of Carmel is hiring a Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver to support senior adults and other home-care clients throughout Hamilton County, including Fishers, Noblesville, Carmel, Westfield, and Indianapolis. Caregivers help clients remain or recover at home with dignity. Visits vary by client and may involve personal care, light housekeeping, exercise encouragement, medication reminders, shopping, meal preparation, and mobility assistance. Caregivers must also respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The role calls for competency, compassion, and professional discernment. Full-time, part-time, PRN, and short-shift options are listed, with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
A caring attitude toward vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including getting around the home, visiting the doctor, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
