About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Household Manager & Family Assistant in Moreland Hills, Ohio. The role involves providing comprehensive support to a busy family of four (soon to be five), including childcare, household organization, meal preparation assistance, laundry, errands, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will be dependable, emotionally steady, and capable of creating calm and structure in a dynamic household. This position requires a proactive individual who enjoys engaging with children and maintaining a smoothly functioning home environment, with the goal of allowing the family to spend more quality time together. The role also includes occasional assistance to nearby grandparents and supporting the family during a postpartum period. The family is seeking a long-term, trusted presence.

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free and drug-free environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation, clean driving record, and valid driver's license required.
  • CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain upon employment.
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and navigate multi-level home.
  • Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including general immunizations; COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are preferred), subject to applicable legal accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, engaged childcare and light supervision as needed throughout the day.
  • Assist with school drop-offs and pick-ups on a flexible, as-needed basis.
  • Prepare backpacks, clothing, and snacks the night before or morning of school.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate activities, outings, and imaginative play.
  • Support the family during the postpartum period, with flexibility as the household dynamic evolves.
  • Assist nearby family members as needs arise (introduced gradually over time).
  • Perform daily resets in primary hot zones (e.g., mudroom, kitchen, living room, primary bedroom).
  • Tidy home throughout the day (e.g., dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, kids' areas).
  • Create, implement, and maintain organizational systems throughout the home.
  • Help build a household playbook covering recurring tasks, seasonal maintenance, and ongoing projects.
  • Manage seasonal swaps for children's clothing (e.g., sort, store, label, and donate outgrown items).
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Set up the home for guests, including refreshing guest bedrooms and linens.
  • Support packing and unpacking for family travel and help reset the home afterward.
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, air purifier filters, and other routine maintenance items.
  • Wash and chop produce, prepare ingredients, and have dinner components ready for the family to assemble.
  • Batch prep snacks and healthy staples as needed.
  • Prepare breakfast and pack lunches for the children.
  • Assist with keeping the children engaged and entertained during dinner prep time.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen throughout the day.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry for the household.
  • Hang dry items requiring special care.
  • Rotate linens weekly, including stripping and remaking beds.
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area.
  • Monitor, organize, and restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage household orders via online platforms.
  • Handle occasional returns.
  • Bring in packages, note package arrivals, and break down boxes.
  • Perform occasional grocery pickup or in-store shopping as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors and service providers.
  • Research vendors, coordinate repairs, and gather quotes for family review.
  • Oversee service providers during home appointments.
  • Help build and maintain a seasonal home maintenance calendar.
  • Deep clean high-use appliances (e.g., refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave).
  • Proactively notice and address areas that need a deeper clean.
  • Perform organizational projects as needed (e.g., toy storage, gear, play areas).
