About The Position

We are a warm, energetic family of 4 with two young children and a small, friendly dog seeking a proactive and deeply organized Household Manager & Family Assistant. This role is crucial for maintaining a calm, organized, and welcoming home environment, acting as an extension of the adults to ensure the household runs smoothly. The ideal candidate will anticipate needs, manage day-to-day behind-the-scenes operations, and help the family be in multiple places at once, especially during busy afternoons. We are looking for a long-term partner who can grow with our family and provide reliable, thoughtful support. This position focuses on childcare assistance and meal preparation, ensuring routines are maintained and stress is reduced for the family.

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Reliable personal transportation and a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable driving children in a family SUV in all weather conditions.
  • Up to date on all vaccinations, including COVID and flu.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Proactive and able to work independently.
  • Deeply organized with the ability to maintain systems.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining routines for children.
  • Excellent at reading a household and thinking one step ahead.
  • Comfortable preparing family-friendly meals that can be purposed for children and adults.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain household organization systems.
  • Perform daily bedroom resets and prepare the home for bi-weekly cleaners.
  • Conduct light tidying of bedrooms, bathrooms, dishes, surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas.
  • Manage seasonal swaps of clothing, decor, and bedding.
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Assist with event, holiday, and guest preparations.
  • Prepare 2-4 dinners per week for the family, and prepare school lunches and healthy after-school snacks daily.
  • Grocery shop as needed to support meal planning, following dietary needs/preferences and food allergies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including trash removal.
  • Manage household shopping lists and restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Run errands such as dry cleaning and travel item pick-ups.
  • Handle all family laundry, including washing, folding, and putting away according to existing organizational systems.
  • Maintain bedroom and bathroom linens and make beds daily.
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked.
  • Perform occasional deep cleans of appliances and areas like baseboards.
  • Refresh daily drop zone areas to ensure everything has a designated home.
  • Undertake organizational projects in closets, dressers, playrooms, and common area storage spaces.
  • Clean dog bowls daily and ensure consistent food and water maintenance.
  • Take the dog outside for brief outings as needed.
  • Maintain dog food inventory.
  • Be present to let in cleaners, contractors, or landscapers when the family is unavailable.
  • Maintain awareness of who is coming and going from the property.
  • Assist with outdoor space maintenance, such as grill cleaning and propane tank management.
  • Support seasonal property maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain awareness of the family calendar, including household schedules, using a Skylight Calendar.
  • Manage vehicle maintenance, including occasional car washes.
  • Provide school and activities pick-up and drop-off as needed.
  • Supervise children in the home, at extra-curricular activities, or during playdates as needed.
  • Prepare diaper bags, backpacks, clothing, snacks, and activity bags.
  • Run kid-related errands as needed.
  • Provide date night and overnight child care as needed.
