About The Position

This is a part-time role for a House Manager & Family Assistant, providing support to an active, warm, and social family with three young children (ages 2, 4, and 5) and two dogs in Sacramento, CA. The family seeks a proactive, communicative, and organized individual to create and maintain systems that ensure their home feels like a calm refuge. The role involves household organization, maintenance, deep cleaning, special projects, inventory management, errands, meal support, laundry, pet care, family support, and vendor/property oversight. The ideal candidate is self-managed, anticipates needs, has excellent time management skills, and takes ownership of responsibilities. They should be comfortable with young children and dogs, and able to maintain professional boundaries while balancing competing priorities.

Occasional evening availability for child care support for date nights and overnights.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain household organization systems throughout the home, including pantry, fridge, garage, and kids' spaces.
Perform daily tidying and reset: dishes, wiping surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas.
Prepare home before cleaners arrive.
Manage seasonal swaps for kids' clothing, bedding, and holiday décor.
Provide event and holiday support for family gatherings.
Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel.
Replace and restock light bulbs, batteries, and smoke detectors.
Coordinate and drop off donation bags.
Perform occasional deep cleans of fridge, oven, and baseboards.
Refresh and reorganize garage, mudroom, and entryway as needed.
Tackle organizational projects in the toy room.
Reset the backyard regularly, clearing kids' outdoor toys, chalk, and gear.
Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; organize pantry.
Manage running supply lists, including dog food and household essentials.
Handle household orders and subscriptions.
Perform in-person errands: returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, gift shopping.
Establish and maintain a system for incoming mail and packages.
Break down and dispose of cardboard boxes.
Batch meal prep 2-3 times per week: dinners, healthy snacks, and grab-and-go breakfast items.
Provide meal planning support, especially during weeks when one parent is traveling.
Perform prep work so meals are ready or nearly ready when the family gets home.
Prep school lunches once the family's preferences are established.
Perform grocery shopping.
Handle kitchen cleanup after meal prep.
Wash, fold, and organize all family laundry.
Iron and steam garments between wears.
Rotate and refresh towels and bed linens.
Keep the laundry area tidy and well stocked.
Walk both dogs regularly.
Ensure dogs have food and water readily available.
Manage daily care for the older dog, including ensuring he's wearing his diaper when inside and washing and drying diapers weekly.
Schedule vet and grooming appointments.
Track medications and preventative care schedules.
Maintain pet supplies, noticing when items like diapers or food are running low.
Occasionally house-sit and care for the dogs when the family travels.
Provide light supervision and backup childcare as needed, including staying with the youngest during nap time.
Prep backpacks, kids' clothing, and school snacks.
Label kids' clothing and clear out items they've outgrown.
Handle kid-related errands as needed.
Oversee and ensure timely payment to the gardeners and other regular vendors.
Research and coordinate repairs, contractor quotes, and seasonal property maintenance.
Coordinate hanging of printed family photos and other small projects.
Manage outdoor spaces by keeping the backyard tidy and free of kids' toys and gear.
