About The Position

Supervise, train and inspect the performance of assigned Banquet Houseperson associates, ensuring that all procedures are completed to the Hotel's standards. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.

Requirements

  • 1-year experience as Banquets Houseperson.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and proper chemical handling.
  • Knowledge of all styles of room set-ups, standard equipment involved and proper handling of such.
  • Ability to provide legible communication.
  • Food Handling certificate
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled function room inspections, using a checklist in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of daily scheduled group functions, times, locations, amount of people and specified requirements.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of the location of all hotel function space and names of rooms.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all styles of meeting and banquet room settings.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all departmental/hotel policies and procedures.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all safety guidelines.
  • Ensure that assigned staff have reported to work; document any late or absent employees.
  • Coordinate breaks for assigned staff.
  • Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities.
  • Assign radios to staff. Maintain accurate record of such and ensure security of equipments. Check that all employees are wearing earpieces per departmental.
  • Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Check supply levels in storage closets. Complete requisition for additional supplies needed and submit to manager.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of storage and service areas. Assign designated personnel to rectify any deficiencies.
  • Check Houseman's carts for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
  • Monitor the Houseman's performance of job functions, ensuring that all departmental standards are met. Directly contact respective individuals and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.
  • Inspect designated function set-ups, ensuring all group requirements and hotel standards are met. Rectify any deficiencies with respective individuals.
  • Monitor and ensure that functions are set up, refreshed and broken down in compliance with scheduled times and departmental procedures.
  • Inspect all of function space for cleanliness and condition, using specified checklists. Ensure that each area meets designated standards. Directly contact respective personnel and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.
  • Assist Housemen with their job functions where needed to ensure optimum cleanliness and service standards for guests.
  • Coordinate group's requests for additions/changes to scheduled arrangements and in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Promote positive guest and employee relations.
  • Be familiar with hotel services/features to respond accurately to any guest inquiry.
  • Monitor and handle guest complaints by following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct training of staff as assigned.
  • Provide feedback on staff performance to manager. Report disciplinary problems to manager and participate in the counseling of employees.
  • Successful completion of the training/certification process.
  • Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Manager. Contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.
  • Document pertinent information in department log book.
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up action with manager and/or on-coming supervisor.
