About The Position

We’re a close-knit, active family of four in Shoreline, WA, seeking an experienced, reliable House Manager & Family Assistant to provide steady support. Both parents work demanding full-time jobs, and we need a partner to help keep our home running smoothly and reduce the everyday mental load. Our ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, organized, and proactive, with a warm and engaging personality that connects well with school-age children. This is viewed as a long-term career opportunity for someone who values professionalism, healthy boundaries, and discretion. The role involves supporting the family with children's routines, household organization and maintenance, laundry, meal preparation, inventory management, errands, and coordinating with vendors and property maintenance. We are looking for someone to help create a calm, well-cared-for home environment so the family can focus on quality time together.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Supervise school-age children during morning hours and walk them to the bus stop.
  • Prepare backpacks, clothing, and snacks each morning.
  • Pack school lunches daily.
  • Serve as backup childcare when needed (e.g., snow days, sick days, teacher planning days).
  • Handle kid-related errands as needed.
  • Support packing and unpacking for family travel.
  • Maintain and build upon existing household organization systems.
  • Perform daily resets to keep the home tidy and prepared for regular housekeeping visits.
  • Light daily tidying: empty and reload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, daily sweeping.
  • Manage seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps.
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Replace batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detector batteries as needed; keep these items well-stocked and organized.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry.
  • Change bed linens weekly and rotate towels 1-2 times per week.
  • Prepare fresh sheets for housekeepers every other week.
  • Handle ironing, steaming, and special garment care on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area.
  • Prepare 2 dinners per week (Mondays and Wednesdays work well for the family).
  • Follow straightforward, healthy recipes.
  • Meals should be either fully prepared or prepped so they can be finished within approximately 20 minutes.
  • Independently suggest meal options or present a couple of ideas for family approval.
  • Prep healthy snacks for the household.
  • Handle grocery shopping and putting groceries away.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies on a regular basis.
  • Manage household supply lists and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.).
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up, and occasional gift shopping.
  • Manage mail, packages, and box breakdown.
  • Coordinate occasional deep-cleaning tasks (fridge, oven, baseboards) and create punch lists for housekeepers, following up to ensure completion.
  • Maintain entryway and garage organization.
  • Take on organizational projects in kids' spaces as needed (toys, books, closets).
  • Oversee and be present for housekeepers and contractors.
  • Research and coordinate repair quotes and vendor scheduling.
  • Manage seasonal property maintenance (window washing, gutter cleaning twice per year, annual roof moss treatment, holiday lighting).
  • Maintain outdoor spaces: general tidiness, wipe down patio furniture as needed.
