About The Position

We are an active, health-conscious family of four seeking a part-time House Manager / Family Assistant to help coordinate the day-to-day rhythm of our household. This role involves managing laundry, meal prep, errands, home resets, school pickups, activity transportation, and keeping track of the family calendar. We value an organized, welcoming, and well-cared-for home, along with healthy routines and family time. The ideal candidate is warm, dependable, organized, and proactive, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to create systems for a busy environment. You should be comfortable working independently, communicating clearly, engaging warmly with children and pets, and embracing a healthy lifestyle. This position requires someone who can anticipate needs, stay one step ahead of the household, and bring a positive, can-do energy. Responsibilities include family support, household organization and maintenance, inventory and errands, meal support, laundry and linens, pet care, deep cleaning and special projects, vehicle upkeep and vendor oversight, and household calendar and administrative support.

Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license and current auto insurance
  • CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain certification prior to start

  • Ability to navigate a multi-level home throughout the day
  • Attention-to-detail and proactive task handling
  • Ability to look ahead at the family calendar and backwards-plan
  • Ability to maintain systems, keep notes, and bring structure to a busy environment
  • Clear communication skills, including following up and tracking expenses
  • Comfortable with school-age children and being a steady, trusted presence

  • Comfortable preparing Whole30/Paleo-style meals and shopping with those principles in mind

Responsibilities

  • Perform school pickups, including checking cubbies and teacher whiteboards for missing assignments.
  • Ensure children have necessary items for school (e.g., water bottles).
  • Unpack, clean, and restock backpacks and lunchboxes.
  • Oversee homework and the school calendar, ensuring timely completion of assignments and projects.
  • Provide transportation to and from after-school activities.
  • Offer increased child support and light supervision during parent travel, including occasional overnights.
  • Handle kid-related errands and appointment transportation.
  • Perform daily tidying and reset of the home, including dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, and arranging couch pillows.
  • Prepare the home ahead of bi-weekly cleaning team visits.
  • Create and maintain household organization systems.
  • Manage seasonal clothing swaps and closet transitions.
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and obtain itemized receipts for tax purposes.
  • Assist with guest and holiday preparations.
  • Unpack after family travel.
  • Perform routine home maintenance such as changing batteries, light bulbs, and checking smoke detectors.
  • Manage outdoor furniture covers before inclement weather.
  • Maintain a running household supply list.
  • Perform grocery shopping (in-store or curbside).
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions.
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, and occasional gift shopping.
  • Manage mail and package handling, including breaking down and recycling boxes.
  • Provide airport drop-off and pickup as needed.
  • Prepare 2-3 dinners per week, with batch cooking welcome.
  • Follow Whole30/Paleo guidelines for meal preparation.
  • Prep healthy snacks.
  • Perform kitchen clean-up and ongoing maintenance.
  • Wash, dry, fold, and put away family laundry, using Marie Kondo folding style for kids' clothes.
  • Organize drawers and closets.
  • Perform ironing, steaming, and special garment care.
  • Manage linen rotation (towels weekly, sheets on a set schedule).
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area.
  • Drive the family dog to grooming and veterinary appointments.
  • Provide feeding and walks for the dog as needed.
  • Administer allergy medication to the dog during family travel.
  • Provide occasional pet and house sitting during travel.
  • Maintain pet supply inventory.
  • Perform periodic pantry clean-outs, disposing of expired items and restocking.
  • Clean and replace air purifier filters and household air filters.
  • Undertake larger organizational projects as scoped and scheduled separately.
  • Schedule routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Perform ad hoc fueling, cleaning, and organizing of family vehicles.
  • Oversee cleaning teams, pool service, landscapers, and other contractors.
  • Research, get quotes, and coordinate vendors for household task list items.
  • Stay familiar with the family calendar and household schedule.
  • Backwards-plan from the calendar to anticipate needs.
  • Coordinate household appointments, services, and vendor visits.
  • Track household expenses, mileage, and receipts accurately.
  • Maintain clear notes and follow up on household tasks and open items.
