About The Position

We are a warm, busy family of six, balancing work, school, and home life. Both parents work full-time, with a mix of remote and in-office days. Our household is full of energy, and there is always something happening, whether it is a busy morning with school drop-offs or spending time together in the evening. Our four kids are playful, curious, and full of joy, and we love to create a welcoming and organized environment for them. We believe in fostering an inclusive and respectful home, where everyone feels comfortable and valued. We value open-mindedness and embrace diversity in all forms. Patience and understanding are essential to our family. Though we stay organized, we also understand that life can be unpredictable, so we are looking for someone who is proactive and flexible, someone who anticipates needs before they arise. Whether it is managing the family’s busy schedule, helping with household organization, or ensuring everything is ready for the next day, we want someone who brings calm and order to our home.

Responsibilities

  • Daily reset of the home, including but not limited to maintaining a clean kitchen and family room environment
  • Light tidying (loading and unloading dishes, wiping surfaces, sweeping and vacuuming high-traffic areas)
  • Ensure the house is ready for monthly cleaning services
  • Maintain household organization systems
  • Manage seasonal swaps (including outgrown and seasonal kids’ clothing, home décor, etc.)
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Support with unpacking from travel
  • Ensure the home is ready for hosting events when needed (resetting indoors and outdoors after parties or gatherings)
  • Meal prep 2–3 times per week (e.g., chopping fruits and vegetables, preparing proteins, and stocking the pantry and refrigerator)
  • Manage pantry and fridge inventory, ensuring expired items are purged and food is prepped and replenished throughout the week
  • Grocery shop and/or coordinate grocery pickups (e.g. Target, Wegmans) and ensure items are organized and put away efficiently
  • Have an awareness of family calendar to ensure snacks for after-school are prepared and set aside
  • Follow dietary needs/preferences (gluten allergy and avoidance of dairy)
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance
  • Fold, sort, and organize clean laundry
  • Linen rotation
  • Support with daily laundry related to beach and swim activities during summer
  • Maintain tidy and well stocked laundry area
  • Manage home inventory, household supplies list, and restock (e.g. toiletries, paper products, cleaning supplies)
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions
  • Handle errands such as dry cleaning, item pick-ups, and returns
  • UPS store & USPS drop-offs
  • Mail and package handling; breakdown boxes
  • Manage deep clean and reorganization as needed (e.g. refrigerator, pantry, under-sink)
  • Medicine cabinets purge and restock of expired items
  • Reset basement play area and craft tables
  • Occasional special organization projects (e.g., toys, craft supplies, entryways, gear)
  • Provide back-up childcare support on occasion (e.g., delayed school openings, early dismissals, and occasional school or camp closures).
  • Have an understanding of sports & extracurricular calendar to make sure all uniforms are clean, ready, and packed in bags for various activities
  • Open to occasional additional babysitting hours, as needed
  • Coordinate and schedule seasonal home maintenance (e.g., yard clean-ups, sprinkler maintenance)
  • Get quotes for household repairs and work
  • Oversee contractors during home repairs or renovations as needed
  • Oversight and awareness of family calendar
  • Support with travel planning and logistics on occasion
  • Receipt/budget tracking for expenses incurred as house manager
