About The Position

We are a warm and intentional family in Tacoma, Washington, seeking a dedicated House Manager & Family Assistant with Childcare Support. Our family includes two young daughters, one toddler, and one newborn. One parent works from a home office, and the other travels frequently. We value a calm, grounded, and organized home environment. We approach parenting with intentionality, following Montessori principles, limiting screen time, and prioritizing emotional attunement, child-led exploration, and gentle boundaries. Our household thrives on rhythm, communication, and mutual respect, with trust being paramount. This role is crucial for easing the mental load of household management, ensuring smooth operations from meal prep to errands, and allowing for more quality family time. We seek a professional who understands private household settings, is proactive, trustworthy, reliable, and committed to a long-term partnership.

Requirements

  • Maintain a smoke-free and fragrance free environment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Fully vaccinated (including COVID & flu)
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proactive and forward-thinking — you see what’s needed before being asked
  • Friendly, warm, and genuinely enjoy being around children
  • Comfortable taking direction but also confident making decisions
  • A great communicator who’s reliable and punctual
  • Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills

  • Experienced with young children — particularly infants and toddlers
  • Montessori-informed approach to childcare

  • Do not rush a child through their process, and do not transfer stress into the room.
  • Coachable and receive direct feedback with openness rather than defensiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Pick-ups/drop-offs
  • Light supervision / back-up childcare
  • Prep backpacks/clothing/snacks
  • Kid-related errands
  • Create and/or Maintain household organization systems
  • Daily resets and prep home for cleaners
  • Light cleaning (dishes, surfaces, vacuum and mop high-traffic areas)
  • Seasonal swaps (décor, bedding)
  • Collaborate with mom for Event/holiday/guest prep
  • Indoor plant care
  • Occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refresh mudroom/entry
  • Clean humidifiers/air purifiers/ robot-vacuums
  • Organizational projects (toys, gear) - sanitize areas, toys 1x per week
  • Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies
  • Manage running household supply lists
  • Mail and package handling
  • Breakdown boxes
  • Prep healthy meals/snacks from a recipe book 2-3 times per week
  • Grocery pick up
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance
  • Wash/fold/organize laundry
  • Linen rotation - bedding, towels
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
