About The Position

Coordinates the hotel's activities and related personnel as directed and supports the AGM / Front Office Manager. This position is responsible for covering the front desk shifts in the event of a call-off. The role involves working all operations, including but not limited to rooms, food & beverage, and maintenance. It requires practical leadership skills to build and reward a service culture. The manager is responsible for the full implementation and consistency of Atira & Van Buren Hotel at Shipshewana standards and company expectations, brand standards, and industry rating for the property. They will also answer inquiries about hotel policies and services. Other duties may be assigned by the AGM/Front Office Manager.

Requirements

  • Must have Holiday Inn & Opera Experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Associate's degree or the equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Alcohol awareness certification.
  • Assistant General Manager and/or other certification as required by franchise.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and cleaning equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including communicating positively and politely with clients, visitors, and other hotel staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions and labels on equipment and products used by the department.

  • Previous supervisory responsibility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer inquiries about hotel policies and services.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, Weekends, On-call.
  • Convey information and ideas.
  • Evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Work well in stressful, high-pressure situations, including handling guest objections and disputes to satisfactory results.
  • Show initiative in job performance.
  • Effectively handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Effectively listen to understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Serve as a mentor for other employees and volunteers.
  • Maintain current knowledge and answer questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
  • Participate in hotel committees and task force assignments.
  • Assist all departments in servicing the guests during high-volume periods.
  • Act as a role model, sharing expertise and continually inspiring the front office team.
