About The Position

Ensure policies, procedures, and all activities are carried out to support BRS goals and objectives at the Hot Strip Mill on the assigned crew. The position operates the Hot Strip Mill Coiler safely and ensures product quality meets customer requirements. It also supports mill operations and maintenance, including work during downtime and outages, and may serve as a LOTO Leader or verifier. The position does not supervise others. The work takes place in a steel mill production environment with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty or greasy areas. The work is physically demanding and routinely requires lifting and moving heavy objects. Typical hours are 12-hour shifts that rotate between days and nights, including some weekends and holidays and overtime.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous Hot Mill experience is required.
Quality-, detail-, and safety-oriented.
Mechanically inclined and self-motivated.
Good insight into team dynamics and strong verbal communication skills.
Computer literate.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Ability to routinely lift and move heavy objects during shifts.

Responsibilities

Maintain good housekeeping in job areas and on the grounds.
Control and operate the Hot Strip Mill Coiler safely and ensure product quality meets customer requirements.
Safely operate overhead cranes with remote controls and other equipment as needed.
Assist the team with Hot Strip Mill operations and maintenance.
Communicate issues and specific order details to the Mill Operator.
Coordinate tests and product sampling needs or requirements with the Mill Adjuster.
Assist with maintenance and repairs during downtime and outages.
Serve as a LOTO Leader or verifier.
Support other departments to strengthen BRS profitability and continual improvement efforts.
