About The Position

Novelis is seeking Maintenance Schedulers for its Bay Minette, Alabama facility. The role plans and schedules maintenance work for electricians, mechanics, and contractors, collaborating with Maintenance Leaders, Reliability Planners, and schedulers in other areas to plan maintenance and expense project work. The Scheduler supplies materials, drawings, work orders, work schedules, instructions, and maintenance manuals as needed. The position owns the maintenance work in its scheduling backlog and supports reliable work management by coordinating priorities, labor availability, schedules, and communication among operations, maintenance, engineering, and other departments. Schedulers develop and coordinate outage schedules, conduct reviews, report metrics, and publish final maintenance schedules and work orders. The facility is a newly announced advanced aluminum rolling and recycling operation expected to create approximately 1,000 careers. It is located near Bay Minette, Alabama, and will primarily serve beverage can and automotive customers.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or five years of industrial experience.
Previous experience with SAP.
Ability to work with operations, maintenance, engineering, other departments, and leadership at all organizational levels.
Ability to learn SAP-specific transaction requirements.
Ability to follow standard procedures for the scheduling process.
Ability to communicate effectively across all subject areas in the department.
Communication and organizational skills.
Experience with Excel.
Public speaking skills for conducting meetings.
Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability and willingness to work at heights.

Nice To Haves

Department-specific experience in maintenance, engineering, or operations; five or more years is preferred.
Two-year degree in a related field.
General mechanical or electrical experience.
Demonstrated passion for getting the right maintenance work done at the right time.

Responsibilities

Own maintenance work in the scheduler’s backlog and continuously work to improve work-management metrics.
Reconcile work orders from uptime and downtime in coordination with appropriate maintenance supervisors.
Assist crew leaders and associate leaders in identifying maintenance work to fill production gaps.
Report metrics as requested.
Develop and coordinate Gantt chart schedules for semi-annual and annual outages.
Determine workforce availability and identify resource gaps for required work.
Conduct schedule review meetings with operations, engineers, and maintenance coordinators or crew leaders.
Develop a rough schedule at least two weeks in advance and identify required labor hours.
Review the backlog and assign priorities based on equipment service needs and the nature of the work.
Coordinate shared resource needs with other manufacturing maintenance departments and central maintenance to support plant priorities.
Communicate draft and final maintenance schedules to operations, maintenance leaders, associates, and engineers as required.
Develop and publish final maintenance schedules and print work orders at least one weekday in advance for down days.
Provide materials, drawings, work orders, work schedules, instructions, and maintenance manuals as required.
Routinely work before and after standard work hours, particularly on shutdown days, typically one to two days per week.
