About The Position
The Hostperson at Nine Fine Irishmen inside New York, New York creates a warm and welcoming first impression by greeting guests courteously, promptly, and professionally. The role maintains a clean, organized, and properly stocked restaurant entrance, host stand, and dining areas. As a key communication point between guests and the service team, the Hostperson supports Food Servers, Bus Persons, and Food Runners by managing guest interactions, coordinating seating arrangements, and maintaining accurate table and reservation information to support a seamless dining experience.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age.
- Able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years of prior relevant experience as a dining host in a restaurant.
- Experience with the Open Table system.
- Experience working in a similar resort setting.
Responsibilities
- Communicate special orders, cake orders, and guest requests with Restaurant Reservations and convey the information to management.
- Stay informed about scheduled daily activities, in-house groups, daily house count, table/seat/station numbers, table setups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range, and restaurant dress code.
- Greet guests promptly as they enter the restaurant.
- Answer phones, maintain an accurate reservation count, and manage the reservation book.
- Ensure menus have current inserts and replace menus that are in poor condition.
- Communicate guest needs to the kitchen and management, report guest reactions and comments to management, and assist management as needed to support smooth operations and quality service.
- Check in frequently with guests waiting to be seated and keep them informed that their tables are being prepared.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in assigned work areas.
- Shut down the podium and forward phones to voice-loop at the end of the shift.
