About The Position

The Host at Ovide, Hotel Effie Sandestin’s signature dining destination, is the first point of contact for guests and helps set the tone for a memorable dining experience. The role welcomes guests, manages reservations and guest flow, and coordinates with the service team to ensure guests feel welcome and receive smooth, attentive service. The Host also helps maintain the front-of-house area and supports the team with additional duties as needed.

Requirements

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and time-management skills.
Team-oriented and willing to assist in other roles when needed.
Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Able to stand and move for up to 8 hours at a time.
Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Able to bend, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.
Must be able to see, hear, and communicate clearly.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous hosting or customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly and make them feel welcome.
Manage reservations and waitlists, and provide accurate wait times.
Escort guests to tables and communicate server rotation to support smooth service.
Maintain a tidy and inviting front-of-house area.
Assist with bussing tables as needed.
Learn and describe menu items, specials, and restaurant offerings.
Collaborate with the team to manage guest flow during peak hours.
Complete opening and closing side work and general cleaning duties.
Provide outstanding customer service with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
